GP2's
Mission: coordinate and mobilize the resources in the Greater
Philadelphia Region in order to promote cultural and economic
linkages with global partners.
The Partners have committed significant resources towards
this effort and have developed important objectives and
goals that will move the effort forward.
These include:
| |
Compiling
all available Regional data and information as it
relates to enhancing global opportunities; |
| |
Creating
a best practices overview of international development
initiatives; |
| |
Creating
an “asset map” of the Region’s global
strengths, industries and clusters; |
| |
Developing
surveys, focus groups and questionnaires with the
goal of analyzing the international environment within
the Region; |
| |
Creating
a detailed global strategic plan with a strategy capable
of being implemented within 12 to 18 months; |
| |
Fostering
an environment which encourages international gatherings
and conferences as they relate to trade and technology;
and |
| |
Developing
a cooperative strategy in which resources can be leveraged
to implement plans to encourage Regional collaboration.
|
So far, we have come a long
way. The recently published International Resource Guide
is a comprehensive listing of the Region’s resources,
not only in print, but on this website for you to search.
The Global Conference Initiative has
already attracted a UN Forum to the City of Philadelphia
– the first in the U.S. to take place outside New
York or Washington. What’s more, a number of additional
conferences are under discussion.
The Globalization Initiative has been
charged with uniting the international trade, economics,
policy, marketing and tourism organizations in the Region
to craft a shared strategy to achieve global interaction
and outreach.
Thus far, significant progress has been
made towards this goal and the momentum is increasing.
GP2 Partners are excited about the opportunity to work
with each other, and with Regional and International businesses
to create opportunities for the future.
